COCK A DOODLE DOO

March 07, 2018 1 Comment

As you might imagine, I have been one misunderstood chick for much of my life. My spiritual teacher, Light, tells me that my real fame will come long after I’m gone, which is an idea I can’t really fathom. Famous for what? Hopefully as a writer, teacher, a fashionable music-loving feminista. But I will probably be remembered mostly for being a sexual pioneer. (Nowadays often referred to as a slut. Oh my.) Yes, there have been plenty of free-thinking, wildly open women from previous eras, such as the divinely outspoken Anais Nin, a hero of mine and a truly liberated, fearless female.

Almost innocently, I wrote about my experiences (including sexual encounters) with rock gods from the most potent revolutionary time in music. I had no idea the repercussions I would face for admitting such a thing. In the mid-sixties, when I was venturing out into the wilderness, a woman’s place was still in the home. Taking care of her man. Dinner on the table. Clothes in the washing machine. Men ruled the roost. Cock-a-doodle-doo. When my first book came out thirty years ago, not a whole lot had changed, despite the word Feminism catapulting into our vocabulary. The 19th Amendment, the Women’s Right to Vote is not even a hundred years old. Imagine that.

A hundred years from now, professors will be taking apart the chords that careened from Jimi Hendrix’s Stratocaster, trying to figure out where on earth (wrong place) they came from. And they will study Dylan’s lyrics like they’d been warbled from the Burning Bush. I also imagine that in the year 2117, females will rule this planet like they did eons ago in Atlantis, and revere pioneering women like Anais Nin, Gloria Steinham, Hillary, (no matter what you think of her, she's an intelligent woman who ran for president) and maybe even music-loving groupies who encouraged, inspired and uplifted the people who stirred their souls, aroused their passion and opened their hearts, ready to receive more, more more.

Hello Pam it’s me your pal Frank. I thinks words like slut are used by prudes to affraid to let loose and enjoy life. And maybe i don’t have the right to comment here cause i know very little of your accomplishments. But i think you will be remembered for your intellegence who can turn bein called slut in to making a living. I think your fame is your books and the stories of your life you wrote. But for those of us that actually met you will be known for that beautiful smile and the kindness you greet everyone with. Hope i don’t embarrass you with my not so bright comments ?✌?. Your Pal Frank Gee
